A shark deterrent wetsuit

I wanted to practice my listening so I went to Ted.org and looked for a interesting video. I really like animal documentaries so I was looking for a video about animals. Then I founded this video about a surfer named Hamish Jolly, that wanted a wetsuit that would deter a curious shark from mistaking him for food. A lot of scientists went looking for a solution that would stop the shark attacks. They needed a scientific breakthrough that would potentially save lives. So they went to look for people that know a lot about shark vision and shark neurology. They research led to the university of W.A. with the oceans institute. Professor Nathan Hart and his team told them that predatory sharks see in black and white. They were thinking about using these grey patterns and shapes to produce a wetsuit that would descend the risk of a shark attack.

They needed to do a lot of research. First they started to map the physical characteristics of the eyes of the tree main predatory sharks. The great white, tiger and bull shark. Than they tried to understand what that eye could see at different depths, distances, light conditions and water clarity in the ocean. What patterns and shapes would present the wearer of an shark attack where the two most important characteristics. Then they started to use all these scientistic results to build two wetsuits. The first wetsuits was called "don't eat me" wetsuit (the black, white wetsuit on the picture). The second wetsuit they made was called the cryptic wetsuit (the blue wetsuit on the picture). The don't eat me wetsuit was made to distract the shark. The cryptic wetsuit was made to hide the wearer in the ocean.

At the end they needed to test these suits. Of course they couldn't test this with humans so they perforated a large drum that was stuffed with a lot of bait and had the wetsuit around it. These drums were putted nearby a white or tiger shark and at a place where they could observe there reactions of the sharks on the wetsuits. After the tests they had an amazing result. The sharks didn't found the drum or where just not interested. So it was an amazing invention. 

I hope it will stop the shark attacks so more people could participate in surfing. And I think the wetsuits look also very cool so it won't be a problem to wear them.

The NBA playoffs

As you probably already know, I'm a basketball player. I'm playing basketball sins I was 7. So I have been playing basketball for more than 9 years till now on. Beside that I play basketball I also fanatically follow the NBA.

The NBA (National Basketball Association) is not only the biggest American basketball league but it is also one of the biggest basketball leagues in the world. All the best players of the world play in that league. Now at the end of the season the playoffs arrive at their end. There are only 4 teams left that can win the title. The San Antonio Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers.

Last year the Miami Heat won the Championship. I hope they can manage it again to win the Championship. That would be there third straight Championship victory. I think they will face the San Antonio Spurs in the finals. It will be a very exciting final but at the end Miami will win because they have Lebron James. He's a 203 cm long Forward that is unstoppable on every position.

Eerste Boekenweek in Nederland en Vlaanderen

Sinds dit jaar, voor het eerst in de geschiedenis, vindt er een gezamenlijke Boekenweek plaats in Nederland en Vlaanderen. Oorspronkelijk vindt deze Boekenweek, jaarlijks sinds 1932, in Nederland plaats. Dit is een feest dat de Nederlandstalige boeken promoot. Deze uitbreiding naar Vlaanderen werd mogelijk gemaakt door de Taalunie.

Deze eerste gezamenlijke Boekenweek vond plaats van 8 maart t/m 16 maart in Nederland en Vlaanderen. Volgens traditie word er elk jaar een bekende schrijver uitgenodigd om een boekengeschenk te schrijven. Dit boekgeschenk kan je gratis verkrijgen door Nederlandstalige boeken te kopen aan 12,50 euro in de deelnemende boekhandels.

Vorige jaren schreven onder andere Kees van Kooten en Tom Lanoye het boekenweekgeschenk. Dit jaar is Tommy Wieringa aan de beurt. Hij heeft het boek Een mooie jonge vrouw geschreven wat een overrompeld verhaal geworden is.

De Taalunie ondersteunde de uitbreiding van de Boekenweek naar Vlaanderen. Ze vinden dat er te weinig literair grensverkeer is tussen Nederland en Vlaanderen. Tenslotte hebben we één zelfde taalgebied, toch gaan de mensen aan beide kanten kiezen voor 'eigen auteursvolk'. Hierdoor gaat er heel wat potentieel aan beide kanten verloren. Als men niet aan deze landgrenzen zou beperken zouden we er allebei enkel voordelen aan hebben. Denk maar aan een groter en diverser aanbod van boeken, het zou niet slecht zijn voor de lezer en voor de boekenmarkt.

Moeilijke woorden

Ik vind dat we niet genoeg bezig zijn met de correcte spelling van woorden te studeren. Tegenwoordig wordt er vooral nog gecommuniceerd via de computer of gsm. Als je hier spelfouten maakt is het niet erg want je gsm of computer verbeterd namelijk deze fouten. Ik denk dat hierdoor de jeugd steeds minder aandacht gaat besteden aan het studeren of zelfs correct schrijven van deze moeilijke woorden omdat je gsm of computer ze toch zo aanpast.

Op een site vond ik de top 100 moeilijke woorden die het meest verkeerd worden geschreven. Hieruit heb ik mijn top 5 moeilijkste woorden gehaald. Namelijk de 5 woorden die ik het moeilijkste vind om juist te schrijven.

Zoals je ziet heb ik vooral moeite met het juist gebruiken van de 'c' of de 'k'. Natuurlijk is het ook nog altijd moeilijk of je dubbele letters of één letter moet schrijven. Welk van deze woorden is nu juist geschreven? Kaisière, caisière of caissière?

Het Nederlands

Het Nederlands is een Indo-Europese, Germaanse taal die vooral in Nederland, Vlaanderen en Suriname wordt gesproken. Het is het lijkt heel erg op andere West-Germaanse talen zoals  Engels, Fries, Duits en vooral op de dochtertaal, het Afrikaans. Een verzameling dialecten ten noorden van de Benrather in Duitsland wordt ook wel eens vergeleken met het Nederlands, ook wel Nederduits genoemd.

De eerste kleine verschijnselen van het Nederlands werd het Oudnederfrankisch genoemd. Het was een verzameling Istvaeoonse dialecten, ontstaan na 500. Binnen de West-Germaanse groep was er spraken van twee ontwikkelingen: de Ingveoonse klankverschuivingen rond de Noordzee, en de Hoogduitse klankverschuiving in Zuid-Duitsland. Deze taalvorm ging tegenovergestelde richting en in afgezwakte vorm over West-Europa. Het Oudnederfrankisch en het Ingveoonse kustdialect werd toen, in 800, ook wel Oudnederlands genoemd. Dit Oudnederlands ging zich evolueren vanaf 1150 tot het dialecten: het Middelnederlands. Binnen het Middelnederlands had je enkele dialecten die heel belangrijk waren naar de uiteindelijke evolutie van het Nederlands, het Vlaams, het Brabants, het Hollands, het Limburgs en in mindere mate ook de Noordoostelijke dialecten zoals het Nedersaksisch. Vanaf 1550 ontwikkelt zich hieruit het Nieuwnederlands.

Uiteindelijk blijkt dat het Nederlands het minst is veranderd tenopzichte van de moedertaal, het West-Germaans.

Crunch Time - J.Cole

Jermainne Lamarr Cole, bether known as J.Cole is an American Hip-Hop artist and producer from Fayetteville in North Carolina. He has a lot of famous albums like born sinner and The Come Up. His first album Cole Word: The Sideline Story, was released on 27 september in 2011 and has been sold 218.000 times in the first week of the release.

I listen alot to music, especially to Hip-Hop. The thing I really like about Hip-Hop is the fact it can be verry motivating but also verry serious. But alot of people think Hip-Hop always goes about money and woman, it is not always like that, that's why I have chosen this song.

The song Crunch Time goes about the stuggles in life, about people that don't take the easy way to achieve something. 'By choosing this way, it won't be easy and you need to fight every moment', he says.

 

 

 

 

 

This song doesn't have 3 million views or gets played on the radio every day, but I really admire it. I hope more people can respect Hip-Hop by listening to this song. I hope you enjoy.

Jongerentaal

Jongerentaal

Jongerentaal is een taal die gebruikt word door de jeugd, ook wel jeugdtaal genoemd. Binnen deze "jongerentaal" heb je twee varianten, het Murks en de straattaal.

Murks

Het Murks is een variant van de jongerentaal die gesproken word door autochtonen jongeren. Het is het gebrekkig Nederlands van Marokkanen en Turken nabootsen door verkeerde woordkeuzes te maken en hun accent te imiteren. Het Murks wordt soms wel gebruikt met spottende bedoelingen. De naam zelf werd bedacht door Jacomine Nortier, een universitair docente sociolinguïstiek bij de faculteit Letteren in Utrecht, die onderzoek deed naar de straattaal. Het is een samenvoeging van het woord "Marokkaans" en "Turks".

Straattaal

De straattaal is een mengtaal die gesproken word tussen jongeren van verschillende sociale achtergronden en culturen. Het wordt gesproken in het dagelijkse leven, op school of op straat, door ongelofelijk veel jongeren. Natuurlijk verschild deze straattaal bij welke groep of subcultuur je hoort. Hierdoor kan de straattaal niet toegeschreven worden tot een specifieke groep jongeren.

Mensen denken misschien dat de Straattaal en het Murks erg op elkaar lijken, maar dit is niet zo. Het Murks wordt eerder gesproken door Nederlandse jongeren die weinig of geen contact hebben met allochtonen. Straattaal daarentegen wordt gesproken tussen jongeren met verschillende culturen die intensief met elkaar omgaan, dit wil zeggen dat het ook veelmeer 'leenwoorden' uit andere talen gaat bevatten. Het blijkt ook dat jongeren die straattaal spreken veel meer op hun gemak zijn. Het Murks daarentegen is enkel een nabootsing.
